Stumbled across this hilarious video where Conan O’Brien stages an organizing intervention for one of his producers. In general, I’m not in favor of ambush organizing, but this was just too funny.
Although this was done for the entertainment value, it’s quite accurate! The office looks pretty typical of a lot of creative types. The apprehension and ambivalence of the “client” is quite real, as well as his complicated reasons for keeping things. The professional organizer is definitely the real deal, non-judmental, matter-of-fact, looking slightly ill at ease to be put into this awkward situation. And yes, Conan as the unhelpful critic is unfortunately accurate, also. Good for a laugh, maybe, but generally not good for winning over a reluctant participant.
